Translation: Who in practice decides whether shops in a town or village may open on Sundays?

  • ✕ Elke winkelier helemaal zelf Each shopkeeper entirely on their own Your answer
  • ✓ De gemeente The municipality (gemeente)
  • C De provincie The province
  • D De Kamer van Koophandel The Chamber of Commerce

Not quite.

Under the Shop Opening Hours Act (Winkeltijdenwet), the municipality sets by local regulation when shops may open, for example on Sundays. That is why Sunday opening differs from municipality to municipality.
