What did the Great Reform Act of 1832 change in the UK?

  • A It gave all women the right to vote
  • ✓ It gave seats to growing industrial towns and ended many 'rotten boroughs' Your answer
  • C It abolished the House of Lords
  • D It created the office of Prime Minister

Correct!

The Act redistributed seats in the House of Commons from tiny, almost empty boroughs to large industrial towns and widened the vote a little. Still only a minority of men could vote, and women had to wait until 1918 for the first votes.
