Translation: You smell a strong gas odour in your home. What should you do?

  • A Allumer la lumière pour chercher la fuite Switch on the light to look for the leak
  • B Fermer les fenêtres et attendre que l'odeur passe Close the windows and wait for the smell to pass
  • ✓ Ouvrir les fenêtres, éviter flammes et interrupteurs, sortir puis appeler les secours Open the windows, avoid flames and switches, leave, then call emergency services Your answer
  • D Allumer une bougie pour vérifier s'il y a du gaz Light a candle to check whether there is gas

Correct!

Il faut aérer, ne pas créer d'étincelle (ni flamme, ni interrupteur, ni sonnette), quitter le logement et prévenir les secours ou le service d'urgence gaz depuis l'extérieur. Une étincelle peut provoquer une explosion.

You should ventilate, avoid any spark (no flame, light switch or doorbell), leave the home and alert the emergency services or the gas emergency line from outside. A spark can cause an explosion.
