Translation: Which majority is needed to amend the Basic Law (Grundgesetz)?

  • ✕ Eine einfache Mehrheit im Bundestag reicht aus. A simple majority in the Bundestag is enough. Your answer
Two thirds in the Bundestag and two thirds of the votes in the Bundesrat.
  • C Die Zustimmung der Bundespräsidentin oder des Bundespräsidenten allein. The approval of the Federal President alone.
  • D Eine Mehrheit der Bevölkerung in einer Volksabstimmung. A majority of the population in a referendum.

Not quite.

The Bundestag and the Bundesrat must each approve an amendment of the Basic Law by a two-thirds majority. A referendum is not provided for this at federal level.
