Culture & life

What is common etiquette when you enter many Canadian homes, especially in winter?

  • ✕ Keep your coat on until you are offered tea Your answer
  • B Knock three times and wait outside
  • C Pay the host a small fee for the visit
  • ✓ Take off your shoes at the door

Not quite.

In many Canadian homes guests take off their shoes at the entrance, which keeps snow, salt and mud outside. If you are unsure, watch what others do or ask the host.
